Our Story
Founding Story
In 1983, with little more than a small greenhouse on their back porch and a garden plot at the corner of Victory and Five Mile, Chuck and Sharon Gross began growing plants and vegetables in Boise for their family and selling the extras to local passersby. What started as a hobby and a way for Sharon to stay home with the kids soon grew into a full-time family business.

Growing Up at the Nursery
Brian and Jaime grew up helping at the nursery, spending their childhood surrounded by seedlings, greenhouse benches, and plenty of dirt under their fingernails. Although they eventually left for college and careers outside the garden, the farm always remained close to home.
The Next Generation
After several years away, Brian and Jaime realized how much they missed working with plants and the land they grew up on. In 2013 they returned to continue the family tradition at Five Mile Farm. Today they grow thousands of plants each spring in over 23,000 square feet of greenhouse space.

From little helpers to proud business owners — more than 40 years in the making.
Five Mile Farm Today
Today Five Mile Farm remains a seasonal, family-owned Boise garden center and greenhouse nursery dedicated to helping Boise and Treasure Valley gardeners succeed. Each spring our greenhouses fill with locally grown flowers, vegetable starts, herbs, and hanging baskets ready to brighten gardens across the Treasure Valley.
