Seeds n' Stuff
Seeds - Five Mile Farm sells a very large collection of both organic and conventional seeds (all of which are
GMO free) from the following suppliers:
-
Snake River Seed Alliance: "A collective of family farmers in the Intermountain West who work together to produce a wide diversity of locally-adapted seeds. We believe that sharing seed saving knowledge with farmers in our region is vital to growing a robust, regional seedshed."
-
Ed Hume Seeds: "Ed Hume Seeds is a family owned and operated business located in the Pacific NW. We've been selling the highest quality seeds and garden products since 1977. Our seed line is specially selected for short season and cool climate areas. This makes our varieties perfect for high altitudes and early or late planting in warm climates."
Onion Sets - Red, yellow, and white Spanish onion sets...it doesn't get any easier or inexpensive to grow your own onions at home. Our onion sets originate right down the road in the Magic Valley of Idaho from Magic Valley Growers.
Seed Potatoes - With many different varieties to choose from, all of which are grown in Eastern Idaho, we are doing our part to keep Idaho potatoes famous!
Bulk Seeds - For those lucky folks that have a big garden to play in, we carry multiple varieties of bulk pea, corn, and bean seed. Brought to you from Andrew's Seed, right here in the Treasure Valley.
Fertilizer and Pest Control - We believe that nature has developed the best solutions in providing plants the nutrients and protection from unwanted critters they need. With this in mind, we primarily carry a wide variety of natural and organic products from vendors such as Down To Earth, Fertilome, and Espoma.
Potting Soils & Compost - The first step in ensuring your plants are healthy and vigorous is to have them rooted in the highest quality potting mix or soil as possible.
For potted plants, we haven't found a mix better than Fertilome's Ultimate Potting Mix. With a perfect blend of peat moss and perlite, the Ultimate Potting Mix is perfect for starting seeds, planting hanging baskets, transplanting houseplants, and more. .
When planting in the ground or a raised bed, we always recommend amending with organic compost to improve soil nutrient availability and water retention while reducing soil compaction. We source our organic compost from Oakdell Egg Farms.
We also carry a number of other soil amendments such as peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, and coconut coir.
Gardening Tools - We carry high quality gear to make your gardening experience more enjoyable...hand tools, gardening gloves, watering cans, and more from brands like Radius, Bond, and Dramm.
Giftware - Unique garden art, decorative planters, and wind chimes adorn our grounds. While we love the way they dress up our property, we are equally as happy to have them go to a good home!
Baskets & Containers - We carry most of the empty baskets and containers used in our flowering arrangements and have no problem at all with you recreating a favorite you see in one of our greenhouses! We also love giving advice on getting you started with your own creative hanging basket and container endeavors.
